Southern is committed to educating students who provide high-quality, ethical patient care across multiple healthcare settings.  The Health Care Professional degree prepares individuals to work in a multitude of healthcare facilities which includes doctor’s offices, home health agencies, hospitals, medical centers, medical and diagnostic laboratories, blood donor centers, outpatient clinics, and physician offices.

Upon completion of the Health Care Professional degree, graduates will have a strong allied health foundation and will be eligible to become nationally certified phlebotomists.  According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), employment of phlebotomists is projected to grow 10 percent from 2021 to 2031.  This is faster than most occupations.  In May 2021, the BLS reported the median wage for phlebotomists was $37,380.
