I would like to personally welcome you to Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College (Southern). We appreciate you for choosing us as your first step to higher learning.
Southern is celebrating its 50th Anniversary in 2021. Since we began our journey in 1971, we have graduated 11, 576 students and awarded 14,932 associate and certificate degrees. You are now part of our legacy and our history moving forward.
I began my personal journey at Southern in 1972 during my junior year in high school. In 1977, I graduated from Southern with an Associate in Science Degree in Nursing and an Associate in Arts Degree in General Studies. I returned to Southern as a nursing faculty member in 1987. I became President of the College in 2020. Southern has played a major role in my life and I am so pleased that you have chosen to allow us to help you on your journey.
Southern changes lives. I’ve witnessed it happen year after year, time and time again. Whether you are entering our Early College Academy as a high school student, starting college as a recent high school graduate, or are making the choice to return to college as a non-traditional student to gain training or to pursue a new career, Southern can help.
I am pleased to share our academic catalog with you. Consider it your pathway to the future. Inside you will find our programs and degrees. You will also learn more about pathways for you to get your bachelor’s and even master’s degrees.
We are dedicated to our students and our local community. Southern prides itself on being more than just a place to take classes, but an institution embedded into our region’s rich history and a part of the growth of our future.
Our mission is simple. Southern is dedicated to providing accessible, affordable, quality education and training to promote the success of those we serve. We look forward to working with you on your own educational journey.
